I love Jazz, and last week I came across this news about the amazing 11 year old kid jazz sensation from Indonesia. His name is Joey Alexander.

Joey Alexander was born in Bali, Indonesia. He started to play piano when he was 6 years old. He moved to Jakarta when his family moved there. He was 8 when he played piano for the pianist Herbie Hancock, who was in Jakarta as an UNESCO good-will ambassador. He entered the first Master-Jam Fest, an all-ages jazz competition in Ukraine, when he was 9, and won the grand prize! He moved to New York with his family in 2014.

Joey was later invited to appear in Jazz at Lincoln Center in 2014, where he received a standing ovation from the crowds. He was also invited to perform at the Arthur Ashe Learning Center gala, for a crowd including former President Bill Clinton.

He has released his first album “My Favorite Things”, which is available through iTunes and Amazon:
